In Memory of Jaime Cruz

Picture
We are saddened to announce the death of Jaime Cruz a member of the Chicago Cuatro Preparatory Orchestra. Jaimie passed away on December 8th. 2020.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Yolanda, their son Jaime Andres, daughter Sandra, grandchildren and family. Jaime was a loving Father, Husband, Grandfather and a great provider for his family who meant the world to him.

Jaime was a veteran entrepreneur on Chicago's famous Division street where he owned the restaurant Latin American specializing in Puerto Rican Cuisine! For many years he hosted the Jíbaro Trovador Show enriching the soul of the Jibaro!

He was a great supporter of Cultural non-profit Organizations. It was because he believed in the Chicago Cuatro Orchestras' mission that he supported our efforts in ensuring that our National Instrument, the Puerto Rican Cuatro, was prominent in the eyes and ears of many people in our community and throughout.

Jaime was also a successful French Horn player in high school .  He loved and was so proud of his Puerto Rican Heritage that he took time out of his busy schedule and became a student of the Chicago Cuatro Orchestra, where he worked hard and advanced into the Chicago Cuatro Orchestras'  Preparatory Orchestra. Thank you Jaime for your friendship and support. Rest In Peace...

Achievement Night Celebration! Past Event
The Chicago Cuatro Orchestra provides free Cuatro, Tiple and a host of other instruments for free, but our joy comes from seeing children, fathers, mothers, and daughters coming week after week to learn to play an instrument with our exceptional instructors.

Due to the Covid pandemic, we have had to move our in person weekly classes to an online platform. As you know, this can be challenging, but our students have been diligent in learning the instrument they chose in the beginning.

We are excited to showcase some of these same students in our Achievement Night Virtual Celebration 2020. We will be live on our YouTube channel and invite you to watch our students play some of the songs they just learned from the beginning of this year. We are very proud of their tenacity and commitment to trying their best and putting forth the effort. They are all prized students and we are ever so proud of them!

Join us on September 19 at 7pm for a live performance by several of our amazing students by clicking on the YouTube link below.

Live viewing will premiere at 7:15 pm

Success Stories

The 2020 Avondale-Logandale's Beginners Cuatro class demonstrate their command of the Puertorican Cuatro after only four classes. These students dedicated their time and effort into practicing this simple melody and the joy in their ultimate success radiates off of them!

While we currently cannot be together in the same way, there are alternative music education opportunities to take advantage of so that you too can share in this same sense of accomplishment.

The Chicago Cuatro Orchestra Project is offering FREE pre-recorded instruction on our website and FREE weekly virtual classes via Zoom. We hope to see you there!
